Our Mission

Millions From One (MFO) is a faith-based non-profit organization bringing clean, life-sustaining water to communities in Burundi, Africa — one of the poorest and most water-scarce nations in the world.

We believe one person’s generosity can ripple out to help millions, transforming health, opportunity, and dignity through access to safe, sustainable water.

Our Burundi Story

Our journey began in 2013, when MFO first visited Burundi to deliver desperately needed shoes to families in need. While serving these communities, we witnessed an even more urgent crisis — the lack of clean water.

We acted quickly, drilling our first well in 2013 for a village we had visited. Seeing the enormous need across the country, we officially registered as an NGO in Burundi in 2014 to expand our impact.

That same year, we hired a local director, built a full-time workforce and currently today have 10 employees on staff, and developed a national infrastructure to manage well drilling and repairs. We purchased trucks and repair equipment, and hired two team members to teach hygiene and sanitation in the villages we serve.

Since launching operations in Burundi, MFO has completed more than 170 new wells and continues to repair over 50 wells each year, ensuring clean water continues to flow for years to come.

Why Water

In rural Burundi, more than 80% of people lack access to clean water. Families — especially women and children — often walk miles each day to collect unsafe water from contaminated streams or filthy ponds.

This daily struggle keeps girls and boys out of school, causes widespread illness, and tragically leads to the loss of many children, adults, and elderly each year.
